OurTownRentals.com began as a family-run business in 2000 - John Sosenko, our son Evan, and myself. At that time, we had owned several rental properties in Ocean Grove, New Jersey for over ten years, including our own home, which we rented when we went away ourselves on vacation.

As always, newspaper advertising was very expensive and the results were very spotty for both the summer and winter seasons. Realtors’ commissions are large and had a negative impact on our ROI. In 2000, we decided to create a website to market our rentals online. At that time, the internet was still very new and revolutionary.

We were immediately successful and we found that the vacationers who rented our properties where wonderful, considerate people - something we had not experienced through the newspaper or realtor referrals. We never took out another newspaper ad again.

In a small town, you don't have to mind your own business - everyone else does it for you. Pretty soon, our friends with rentals were advertising on our website and the family internet business was born. Word of mouth about our results has been our best advertisement.

We've come a long way since 2000! Our software has been designed by the best in the field. We regularly employ professional web consultants for upgrades and new features. Our organic search results are consistently excellent. We advertise on Google and Yahoo. We believe that the town and the rental go together and we've built a network of home-town websites along the Jersey shore that have multiplied the great results for our advertisers.

Another change was our move to California in 2002. We brought our family business with us and it continues to grow along the Jersey shore in the towns we know so well.
